In addressing the slow economic growth at the district level, the government of Ghana introduced the One District One Factory (1D1F) Programme. The programme seeks to create business opportunities by harnessing the resources of the locals in order to minimize the unemployment rate in the country. This is being undertaken in all MMDAs and Asante Akim Central Municipality was not excluded. In this Municipality, a Cassava Factory is being established under the 1D1F programme.
Therefore, on Thursday, 9th July, 2020, a team led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Susan Akomeah initiated the process for the commencement of the Cassava Factory at Konongo- Lowcost. This was done by handing over the site to Asona Enterprise (Contractor) to start the construction. The team comprised of the Municipal Chief Executive- Hon. Susan Akomeah, Municipal Coordinating Director- Mr. David Owusu Ansah, Municipal Planning Officer- Mr. Rashid Abdul Tamimu, Municipal Quantity Surveyor- Mr. Yeboah and two representatives from Agric Systems Eng. Consult namely Mr. Dela Abador and Mr. Mawuli Dongbly.
The two representatives from Agric Systems Engineering Consult made the drawings and designs of the Cassava Factory. The drawings were presented for all to have an insight into it. They then presented all documents regarding the factory to the MCE for further handing over to the Contractor to start work on the site.
The Contractor expressed his appreciation to the Assembly and the Consultant for the opportunity. He also assured members present that all efforts will be made to do a diligent work that will meet expectations and the project will be completed within the stipulated time of four (4) months.
