The green Ghana day is a government project aimed at replanting of trees that has been lost due to human activities.
The government of Ghana working through the ministry of lands and natural resources targetted to plant 20 million trees this year.
10th June 2022 was elected by the government to be the day for the planting of the trees with a tag name Green Ghana day.
The Ashanti region recieved 4 million seedlings which trickled down to Asante Akim central where 500,000 seedlings were recieved.
The seeds were distributed to Agric, Assembly members representing their individual areas and other well meaning Ghanaians.
The municipal chief executive Mr. Robert Kwakye with the leaders of the various departments of the administration including the assemblymen also commemorated the day by planting trees themselves as a gesture to residents of the municipality to also do same.
He also admonished citizens to plant trees to bolster the government's effort in this area.
