The facilitator delivered a capacity building training program on Performance Contract of the MMDA’s signed by the Municipal Coordinating Director and the Municipal Chief Executive for all heads of unit/department to enlighten more knowledge on the Contract. The facilitators were Mrs. Vivian Akumia, the Ashanti Regional Director of Human Resource Department, Samuel Antwi, Human Resource Manager, Gifty Oteng, Assistant Human Resource Manager and Mary Konadu, Assistant Human Resource Manager – Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council.
The aim of this workshop was to boost the morale of all the heads of unit/department of the Assembly to help them acquire more knowledge on the performance contract of the MMDA’s signed by the Municipal Coordinating Director and the Municipal Chief Executive.
The participants for the workshop were 34 which involves 20 males and 14 females at the Municipal Assembly’s hall. These were the various head of units and departments of the Assembly and other staff with direct duties to the performance contract.
The workshop program started at 11:40am with an opening prayer by Andy Ampofo Ghanson, Assistant Director IIA. There was an introduction of participants and the facilitators. There was anopening remark by the Municipal Co-ordinating Director, Mr. David Owusu Ansah explaining the necessity of this workshop and urged participants to take it serious and partake into it.
The facilitator, Mrs. Vivian Akumia, took in-charge by taking participants through the Local Government Service. Participants were known that it is a public service institution established by the Local Government Act, 2003 (Act 656) which has been repealed and replaced with the Local Government Service Act, 2016 (Act 936). She continued that the service exists to secure effective administration and management of the decentralized local government system in the country. She continued that the mission and vision of the MMDA’s may differ but it will be similar to that of Local Government Service.
Also, she brought to the knowledge of participants some of the Local Government Protocols which includes the service delivery standards which involves participation, professionalism, transparency, accountability, efficient and effective use resources, client focus and their application to lines of duty.
Also, the knowledge of participants was brought to the fact that, the KPIs (key Performance Indicators) of the MCD is the KPA (Key Performance Area) of the head of units/departments and how such KPAs were to be achieved.
The workshop was successfully organized. The involvement by participants showed that understanding of Performance Contract of the MMDA’s signed by the Municipal Coordinating Director and the Municipal Chief Executive has been achieved and there will be improvement in efficient and effectiveness of work.
